Barbara and John Swarner of Shermans Dale have dedicated all of their time to volunteering since retirement.

They have volunteered for the Central Perry Food Bank for 10 years, helping to pack up food donations and to distribute the food to families in Perry County on Saturdays at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

As volunteers of the Perry County Fair, the Swarners assist with the antique toy exhibit. They catalogue the items and help set up and organize the exhibit.

Barbara Swarner also volunteers at the Central Perry Community Senior Citizens Center, where she assists with the program Troopons, clipping coupons for our troops every Wednesday for several hours. In total, the center has distributed $176,000 worth of coupons to the nation’s troops and their families.

All of their volunteering is done through RSVP of the Capital Region. The Swarners are grateful that they are able to volunteer and help others in their community, and they appreciate the many volunteering opportunities offered by RSVP.

For more information on volunteering with RSVP of the Capital Region, please contact Becky Gibbons at perrycumb@rsvpcapreg.org or (717) 541-9521.
