Volunteer Spotlight

The Lebanon County RSVP Volunteer of the Month for September is Yolanda Cruz, who has volunteered extensively through RSVP with the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross.

Cruz has served for 13 years with the Salvation Army and one year with the Red Cross, serving meals and assisting with a multitude of community-wide projects.

Cruz grew up in Puerto Rico, in the western shore city of Mayaguez. It was there that she began volunteering at a hospital in the 1970s. She was employed in healthcare as a practical nurse for seven years and for 19 years with Baxter Laboratories.

Cruz moved from Puerto Rico in 2002 to live in Lebanon. She is blessed to have two daughters, a son, and five grandchildren. Cruz has also been employed as a nurse assistant (LPN) with the Lebanon School District.

Cruz’s greatest reward as a volunteer is that she enjoys helping others. For her, every day she experiences new history and memories as a volunteer.
