The July RSVP York County Volunteer of the Month is John Bauman.

Bauman was born in 1942 in a small town north of Altoona—Spangler—to the late Leo and Anna Bauman.

Bauman graduated from St. Francis Xavier Parochial School in 1958 and from Cresson Joint High School in 1961. He served as a diesel mechanic in the U.S. Army in the United States and in Europe.

Bauman retired from Osram Sylvania in York in 2004. He worked as an electrician and enjoyed making sparks for a living. His hobbies were numerous: gardening, woodworking, amateur radio, chasing trains, and taking photographs.

Bauman has volunteered for Meals on Wheels for five years, York County Parks for three years, and Steam Into History for five years. He enjoys the flexibility of volunteering through RSVP.
