The York County June volunteer of the month for RSVP of the Capital Region is Phyllis March.

March received her B.S. in education from Shippensburg State College in 1970 and a Master of Education degree in counseling from Western Maryland College in 1975.

She taught English and speech at West York High School for four years and then spent 39 years at Red Lion Area School District, where she worked as a middle school and high school guidance counselor.

March retired in June 2013, having worked a total of 43 years in public education. Through RSVP she currently serves as a volunteer tutor in the GED program at York County School of Technology.

March also volunteers as an office assistant at the York County Agency on Aging.
