If you are age 50 or over and a resident of Cumberland County or a participant at one of its senior centers, you are invited to participate in the 2017 Senior Games on Wednesday, July 19.
The Senior Games will be held rain or shine at Mechanicsburg High School, Mechanicsburg Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park, and Mechanicsburg Place Senior Center.
Sponsored by Cumberland County Aging & Community Services, the Borough of Mechanicsburg, Messiah Lifeways, and the Woods at Cedar Run, the games combine sport, recreation, friendly competition, and fellowship.
The registration fee of $14, due by July 3, enables competitors to participate in an unlimited number of events, which will include everything from swimming and shuffleboard to bocce and billiards.
Check-in, held in the high school lobby, will be open from 8-8:45 a.m., followed by opening remarks from 8:45-9 a.m.

Running
Events held at Mechanicsburg High School track.
9-9:30 a.m. – 100-Meter Run
9:30-9:45 a.m. – 400-Meter Run
9:45-10:15 a.m. – 1600-Meter Run/Walk
Throws
Events held at Mechanicsburg High School track.
9:15-10:15 a.m. – Softball Throw
9:15-10:15 a.m. – Football Throw
9:30-10:30 a.m. – Basketball Shoot
Bracket Events
(Only two bracket events per competitor. All events held at Memorial Park.)
11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Bocce, single-elimination bracket
11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Ladderball, single-elimination bracket
11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Cornhole, single-elimination bracket
Other Sports
9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Shuffleboard at Mechanicsburg High School cafeteria
10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Wii Bowling at Mechanicsburg Place Senior Center
10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Billiards at Mechanicsburg Place Senior Center
1-1:30 p.m. – 50-Meter Freestyle Swim at Memorial Park
Bagged lunches will be available for pickup between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Cumberland County Commissioner Jim Hertzler will present the day’s medals during the ice cream and awards hour from 3-4 p.m.
