Longtime Frank Sinatra tribute artist Rich DeSimone will be performing at the York County 50plus EXPO on Sept. 27 at the York Expo Center.
Rich DeSimone grew up in the Bronx in New York City and has been bringing the music of Frank Sinatra to life since 1995.
He credits his love for crooning, swing, and the Great American Songbook to his dad’s record collection.
“I remember looking at Dad’s albums with my brothers and just reading the covers,” DeSimone said. “I loved the photos on the covers of Sinatra, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Dean Martin, and so many others.”
DeSimone started playing guitar in a local folk group in church in the mid-1970s but always wanted a bigger challenge of singing solo.
The theater gave DeSimone the opportunity to perform solo numbers in front of large audiences.
“I did My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, HMS Pinafore, and two productions of The Music Man,” he said. “I gained invaluable confidence with those stage productions.”
DeSimone has studied Frank Sinatra in detail over the past 28 years of performing his show.
“I have read close to a dozen books about Sinatra’s life and have heard many stories and personal experiences from folks who met Sinatra or were in attendance at one of his hundreds of live shows,” he said.
“Frank Sinatra once said, ‘The most important part of a song is the story; the melody comes second.’”
DeSimone currently performs his Frank Sinatra Show at several locations monthly as well as private performances at many country clubs, wedding venues, corporate events, and parties throughout the year.
A complete lineup of his performances can be found at croonerrich.com.
