An event created to connect veterans and transitioning military to benefits, resources, and jobs is coming to Lebanon County this September.
The Veterans’ Expo & Job Fair, a free, one-day event for veterans of all ages and their families, will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Lebanon Expo Center, 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon.
Presented by OLP Events, the Veterans’ Expo will connect active and retired military members with the benefits and resources available to them through local businesses and organizations.
The Job Fair will present an opportunity for transitioning and former military personnel of all ages to meet face-to-face with employers to discuss available positions.
The Veterans’ Expo & Job Fair was first held in Lancaster County in 2014 but has since expanded to include events in Berks County, the Capital Area, and York County.
“At the request of many businesses who are looking for employees in the Lebanon area, and with the proximity to Fort Indiantown Gap, we decided it would be consistent with our mission — to make a difference in the lives of others — to host the event in Lebanon,” Donna Anderson, president of OLP Events, said.
Lebanon County is home to more than 4,000 veterans, according to a 2019 report by the commonwealth’s Center for Workforce Information & Analysis, part of the Department of Labor and Industry.
The day’s opening ceremony at 9 a.m. will include the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard performing the Presentation of Colors, which honors each branch of the military.
Exhibitors represented will include community service providers, healthcare professionals, VA benefits counselors, education/training providers, and business startup assistance, as well as businesses covering everything from home improvement, legal services, and finance to retirement living and insurance.
Within the Job Fair, employment seekers can visit the Resource Center for financial services and planning assistance, small-business counseling, and other helpful information for translating military careers to civilian opportunities.
Sponsors include 50plus LIFE, BusinessWoman magazine, Disabled American Veterans, Pennsylvania Veterans of Foreign Wars, WFYL, and WHTM abc27.
