All York County veterans—YORKVETs—and their families are invited to a celebration and breakfast at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the York Expo Center, Memorial Hall West. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and the celebration will conclude with a salute to veterans at 11:11 a.m.

“Expect an event that allows YORKVETs to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate who we are among ourselves and our family members,” said Terry Gendron, director of York County Veterans Affairs.

“We encourage YORKVETs to bring their families,” Gendron said. “We ask businesses and schools to allow a liberal leave policy for veterans and family members to attend this event.”

This year marks the 25th annual presentation of the York County Veterans Meritorious Service Award. The award—now named in honor of York County Veteran George H. Eyler—is awarded to a YORKVET who has demonstrated distinguished service to the community.

Donations to the York County Veterans in Need Fund are encouraged for this event but not required.

Gendron asks attendees to RSVP to York County Veterans Affairs at (717) 771-9218 or yorkvet@yorkcountypa.gov.
