The April RSVP York County Volunteer of the Month, Ted Kraft, was born and raised in Baltimore.

After serving in the U.S. Army overseas and working as a Baltimore police officer and in a management position for the Baltimore Sun, Kraft retired in 1995 to be a caregiver for his wife, Carole, who was suffering from MS and passed in 2008.

In appreciation for the care his wife received at York Hospital, Kraft became a volunteer there, running a “Munch Mobile” with sandwiches, sodas, and snacks for the staff for four years, up to four days a week.

Kraft also became a volunteer at The Strand-Capitol Theater for the Performing Arts; the Pullo Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State, York Campus; and Marketview Arts in York.

In summer 2015 Kraft joined RSVP and volunteered at the Mason-Dixon Community Services food pantry in Delta. Four hours a week soon turned into eight. He currently volunteers an average of 5.5 hours two days a week.

Kraft continues to serve at all these locations, including the hospital’s gift shop. We are pleased to recognize Ted Kraft and appreciate his volunteer service in York County.
