Members of American Legion Post No. 455, Stewartstown, placed American flags at the graves of all veterans interred at Stewartstown Cemetery on Saturday, May 11.

Members of the Legion, Sons of the American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, and AL Riders, all from Post 455, participated in the placement of flags.

Post Commander Bobby O’Farrell led the endeavor, along with volunteers and family members from the post.

The placement of flags is part of the annual effort to remember those individuals who have served our nation in the uniformed services during war and peace.

The flags remained in place at the cemetery as part of the Memorial Day ceremonies, when Post 455 recognized all veterans and awarded scholarships to area high school seniors.

In 2018 Post 455 presented over $20,000 in scholarships to area seniors to assist in their college studies. For scholarship information, students are encouraged to contact their high school guidance counselor or O’Farrell at (717) 309-3881.
